Historic Spanish Point

GPS:
337 N. Tamiami Trail, Osprey, FL 34229

Thirty acres of beautiful spots to paint. Painters love Historic Spanish Point for the sheer beauty of the meadows, gardens, St. Mary’s Chapel in the woods, the packing house on the bay, the old boat house, butterfly gardens, bougainvillea covered pergola and the fabulous houses and cottages to paint.

Go down any road. Each one leads you to dozens of paintings. Artists love the history at Historic Spanish Point. Here you find the only archaeological exhibition in the nation built inside of a shell mound.

Paint the sunken garden, jungle walk, fern garden and the winding Butterfly Garden set in among old oaks and palm hammocks. Paint the boats in the bay.

When you come here once to paint, you will want to paint here again and again. Many artists have yearly memberships here not just because we want to paint often in this lovely place by the bay but because we want to help preserve one of Sarasota’s most beautiful historical treasures.

You can also paddleboard on an eco tour through mangrove tunnels and paddle around mangrove islands or take a history tour….but mostly? You will want to PAINT.

Landscape artists have always played an important role in preserving our history. Every painting you do captures the world as it is today. At Historic Spanish Point you paint history the way it is today and yesterday. Historic Spanish Point is lovely and welcoming to artists. Come paint.
