Louise Pond - Featured Artist
Louise Pond paints with pastels. Pastel, watercolor, oil and acrylic are all different kinds of paint. What makes them different is the binder used in each one. Louise’s choice is pastel and she is fast becoming a well-known master artist in this medium.
Louise paints both in Plein Air and in her studio. Louise is has studied with many artists but nature is her best teacher. Louise paints on the Sun Coast in the winter and in the summer you will find her in Michigan. Louise says what she truly loves it being able to paint outdoors.
Louise is also a wonderful teacher and we are all looking forward to her demo this year on values. Values is the one thing you just have to get right if you want your painting to work just as well close up as across the room. Louise’s demo will help us all understand values better. Values is the one thing we always keep learning throughout our entire art journey. Hearing another artist talk about values is always enriching. There must be a thousand ways to discuss values and I can’t think of one way that does not make us better painters. Thank you Louise.
DEMO AND MINI WORKSHOP 2016 - 2017
- Demo: April 6, 2017: Values
- Location: Myakka State Park in the woods near the concession stands.
- Mini Workshop: Louise will do her workshop for up to 12 artists. Artists who attend will get targeted information for their paintings. Each artist will learn how they can learn to choose the right values for their paintings.
Louise Pond is a member of the Great Lakes Pastel Society. Her work can be seen in private and corporate collections. She chooses pastels because she loves the vibrant, saturated color you get with this medium. No matter what your medium is, come and see Louise’s demo and mini workshop. When you talk VALUE, all painters speak the same language. Value is the common thread between all representational artists. And Louise Pond gets her values right…. which is why she continues to win prizes and accolades at contests and paint outs everywhere she goes.
